“Fools” is a comic fable, set in a remote Ukrainian village during the late 19th century. The play opens with young Leon Tolchinsky arriving in Kulyenchikov to become the new schoolmaster, eagerly anticipating his new position. Leon has been hired by Dr. Zubritsky to educate his lovely daughter, Sophia. But something is up! Leon soon learns that there was a curse put upon the village long ago that makes everyone stupid. This is a charming story about the power of love.
