George and Charlie are writers, best friends, and partners in crime “skirt chasing.” Charlie is shot by an angry husband during a yacht party, falls out a porthole and is lost at sea. After George provides the eulogy for Charlie and returns to the beach house, Charlie “returns” as a woman (cigar in hand) and gets a second chance at life and love.  Lauren Bacall on Broadway and Debbie Reynolds onscreen portrayed the title role in this knockabout farce.
